For all the capabilities of the modern browser, the online editing of a DOCX file is still hard. This is especially true when needing to embed a collaborative DOCX editor inside one's own web application. When our team at Harbour, a company specializing in business collaboration tools for contracts, could not find an existing solution for this, we knew we had to build it ourselves. The goal is a modern document editing experience with easy use (open source, self-hostable JS), perfect DOCX formatting upon import/export, and real-time collaboration.

Our customers need to go from document drafted to signed as quickly as possible, which requires streamlining their approvals, version tracking, and seamless integration capabilities (e.g., Salesforce, Google Sheets, custom web applications, and more).
